Big win for Russell Henley. Leader McIlroy coughed up a +3 through the bear trap, finishing four-over on this last round, and faced Henley, Knox, and Palmer for a sudden-death play of the 18th. Young crowd, 38 year old palmer the oldest of the foursome by 10 years.
About the difficulty of the bear trap: I looked at some sample scores this past week: 15th scores pretty well, maybe the 7th easiest on the course, 17th is around the 8th hardest, so together they are about average. 16th is rightfully tough, but still easier than the 2nd, and 6th. In fact, for this week’s leaders as of yesterday, more double bogeys occurred on the 6th hole than 15, 16, and 17 combined.
HSBC Women’s Challenge:
This match’s ending just sounds absolutely amazing. 75 foot eagle putt to win the playoff hole and tournament.
Paula Creamer, that is nuts. The playoff was against Azahara Munoz. Webb, leader entering the final day, had three bogeys over the last 6 holes, including one on the 18th, to take third place just 1 stroke back.
