Big showing of names at Doral, with good reason. The purse is large. Everyone is going to be here, even Tiger with his bad back. What’s your excuse?
So, based on the top 20 placers at Doral last year:
- 3rd and 4th holes most likely to lose some strokes on. Together making a large circle around a lake, they play over par and have high variance. That’s where I would take my spectating seat.
- The front nine par 5′s (hole 1 and 8) will give up the most birdies, especially the first hole which absolutely none of these golfers bogeyed. First and second par 5, average eagles occurrence of these 20 golfers was ~6%. On third and fourth par 5, average of 2%.
- The 7th and 10th are good spots to see a large but evenly distributed number of birdies and bogeys.
- Last year most of the worst games happened on day 4, but also the two best (64 and 65, Scott and McIlroy).
